"description_short": "A two tier under sink organiser in ABS plastic and thickened metal tube, rated to 16 kg, that builds around the waste pipe instead of fighting it.",
"description": "Why this cupboard defeats everyone\n\nUnder-sink cupboards are the only storage in a house built around an obstacle. The waste pipe and trap run straight through the middle, the door opening is narrower than the space behind it, and there is usually a stopcock somewhere you must not block.\n\nThe result is predictable. Everything ends up in a single layer on the base, the tall bottles go at the back because they fit there, and you find things by kneeling down and moving the front row.\n\nUse the height, not the floor\n\nThe space is not actually short of room. It is short of usable levels.\n\nLook at what is under your sink now and you will mostly see air: a layer of bottles perhaps 25 cm tall in a cupboard that is 50 cm or more. Splitting that into two tiers is what turns one layer of clutter into two layers of storage in the same footprint.\n\nThat is all this unit does, but it does it around the pipe rather than pretending the pipe is not there.\n\nWhy sliding matters more than it sounds\n\nA fixed shelf under a sink solves half the problem. You get two levels, but the back of the top level is now harder to reach than the back of the floor was.\n\nPulling a basket out brings the whole depth into the light. In a cupboard that is 39 cm deep with a pipe in the way and no light in it, that is the difference between finding the drain unblocker and buying another one because you could not see it.\n\nGetting the build right\n\nTwo things decide whether this is solid or wobbly.\n\nBuckle the tubes properly. All four connections need to be pushed fully home. Nearly all reports of a frame that rocks come back to one tube that was not seated, and it is a thirty second fix once you know to check.\n\nBuild it around your own trap. Stand the frame in the cupboard before loading it and check the tubes clear the pipe with room to slide the baskets. Better to find that with empty baskets than with sixteen kilos of bottles in them.\n\nWhere the weight should go\n\nThe unit is rated to 16 kg in total, which is generous for what people actually keep under a sink.\n\nSpread it. Heavy bottles across both tiers rather than stacked on one keeps the frame stable and the baskets running smoothly. The four hooks take the light awkward things, cloths, brushes and spray triggers, which otherwise sit on top of the bottles and fall out when you slide the basket.\n\nOne last thing, and it has nothing to do with storage: this cupboard is at floor level, it does not lock, and it is where most households keep bleach. If there are small children in the house, the cleaning chemicals belong somewhere higher up, and this organiser is better used for everything else.",
